LEVITAS AD LIBITUM was an interactive, improvisational dance experience. The artists performed a series of improvised structures intermixed with pieces open for attendees to join. Directions were be provided. Audience members were invited and highly encouraged to participate at their pleasure, becoming part of the live, evolving composition or simply perceiving it. Jamie and David have collaborated primarily on dances for film, which has given space to document the spontaneity, mutuality of understanding, and creativity that flourish in an improvisational setting. Their creative process is thus also a reflective one, and LEVITAS AD LIBITUM represented a return to this improvisational configuration after five years apart. LEVITAS AD LIBITUM was a meaningful performance art piece representative of their friendship prior to David's departure for New Zealand. It served both as a welcome back and a farewell for now for this duo.
